My mother's family (Wiest)came from the "tri-county" area (where Northumberland, Schuylkill, and Dauphin Counties meet). She descends from the Wiest, Klinger, and Merkel families. My wife's father's family Shaffer)comes from nearby Stone Valley. She de
cends fron the Shaffer, Leitzel, Troutman, Byerly, and Beisel families. My wife's mother (Palmer) was born in Barnsville. Between us, we are related to virtually every pioneer family from the tri-county region. I have been researching our families for
some 20 years and have a database of over 5000 individuals.

Great website, Lynn! Your Victorian graphics are
fantastic. Although I haven't searched through
your surname database (Infinet is extremely slow
tonight), I've bookmarked your site for future
reference. I'm currently working on Pine Grove
roots and have been using the Family Tree Maker
software from Broderbund. At last count, I had
entered abour 2,600 individuals and that only in-
cludes my father's direct ancestors of the same
surname (Fidler). I've probably got 50 times more
individuals to enter in both direct and indirect
lines, most of which I composed about 15 years ago
and am just now computerizing. I'll check my database for surnames that match yours and let you
know if I can add to your work.

Paula Loomis Taylor - 01/04/99 04:02:10
Hometown: Cincinnati, Ohio
Hello! This is a long shot contact! I have a direct descendent, Asher LOOMIS who was born in your county in 1773, probably as his family was in route from Connecticut to Ohio. At least his Ohio death record, a probate court record, says he was born in S
huykill, PA, 78 years before his death. This would be around Feb/march, 1773. Any ideas about how to trace any possible birth records for that period? Thanks for any help you can offer.

A remarkable site! My great grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Lynch, was born in Pottsville May 3, 1862, the daughter of Robert and Mary (Miller) Lynch. The 1860 census shows their residence to be North Manheim. Robert's father was Thomas Lynch who appears t
have died between 1850 and 1870. Is there a list of people buried in the St. Patrick Church cemeteries?

Mary L Kline - 11/04/98 11:43:31
Hometown: Media, Pa
Just "discovered" your site which seems to be an absolute windfall for me. I was born in Pottsville, raised in Schuylkill Haven, and most of my family was born, lived, and are buried in Schuylkill Co. I have "tons" of information on the area re old history and the likes.
My ancestral line from the area include: FAHL, HOPPES, DRESS, DIETRICH, BAST, on my father's side - and HEIM, KIRKPATRICK, KANTNER, KRATER, YODER, EMHARDT, TROUTMAN, DRUMHELLER, SMITH, SCHMIDT, on my mother's side.
I will be willing to share any information I have, and hope that I can find more info to fill in some of my family gaps. This is sure much easier than traipsing all over cemeteries, following dirt roads to homesteads, etc., of which I've done, and even taken pictures. Thanks for taking me on board, Mary Lou
