UMBENHAM, DANIEL, followed boating, he served in the war at Baltimore in 1814, he had three sons and six daughters: Henry, Jonathan, John. Henry was married, had two sons and one daughter; Jonathan was married to Miss Ellenbaum; John was single, he served in the Civil War; one daughter was married to Samuel Aurnan, lives in Pottsville; one to John Zimmerman; one to John Hoff; one to John Weir; one to George Lord: one to Mr. Focht.

UMBENHAUER, CAPTAIN JAMES W., was born in Pine Grove. He has worked most of his time in the mines, mostly contract work. He was married twice, his first wife was a Miss Russell, had one daughter. She is married to S. G-. Stine. The second wife was a sister to the first, had one son and two daughters. Son Robert was in the Spanish American War. He lives in Harrisburg. Edna is married to Pierce Mortimer, Mayor of Pottsville; Minnie is single, has a millinery store In Mrs. Bordlemay's house. Mr. Umbenbauer was a member of Co. G, 4th Reg't. N. G. P. when it was first organized Jan. 9, 1877. He served as Serg't., Lieut., and Captain. In the Spanish American War he was at Porto Rico, served in the riots of 1897 at Homested and at Hazelton.

UMBENHAUER, HARRY, was a farmer and farmed for David Greenawalt from 1841 till 1844. He lived in the Jackson Row. For few years he farmed the farm that William Shultz has, what was then the Eckert farm, then the Moser's farm, where Frank Mars lives now, then moved to Miamisburg, Ohio. He had three sons: Henry, Samuel, Sloutus. Henry served in the Civil War and was killed.
