Caramel Apple Cake (my family's favorite) 1/2 cup crisco 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon allspice 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg 1-1/3 cups sugar 2 eggs 2 cups apples - cut up fine 1 teaspoon baking powder 2 cups sifted flour 1/3 cup water Top with Spanish Icing or cinnamon-sugar-butter crumbs. Oven 350 degrees. Spanish Icing: To the whites of 2 eggs beaten till stiff add 1 cup brown sugar and beat again. Put on top of raw batter. Nuts may be sprinkled on top. Bake with cake.
