Gram's Roll Recipe (I grew up on these every holiday meal) Note: it's also possible to make this dough in the food processor with dry yeast and without boiling water - warm water will do 1 cup crisco 1 cup sugar 1 cup boiling water 1 lg. or 2 sm. cakes yeast 1 cup cold water 1 tablespoon salt 1 tablespoon sugar 2 eggs 7-8 cups flour Put yeast cake in bowl with 1 cup cold water. Cream crisco and sugar, add boiling water. Then cool to lukewarm. Add the salt and sugar to the yeast and cold water and mix well, then mix into the crisco mixture. Beat eggs and add. Add the flour gradually - as much as you can with beater and then by hand. Knead until well blended and elastic. Let rise until double in bulk in warm room or overnight in cool room. Make up into desired shapes for plain or sweet rolls (see below) and let rise again. Bake in 400 degree oven until done. These are refrigerator rolls and if a little is wanted at a time, the dough can be kept in the refrigerator. The above instructions are given if all the dough is to be used at one time. <<< Sweet Rolls Roll dough to about 1/2 inch thickness and spread with melted butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. In round cake pan put melted butter or oleo and spread with brown sugar and add a little water. Roll up dough and slice and inch or more think. Put into the pan and let rise. Bake at 400 degrees.
