The Will of
GEORGE W. SHOTWELL

 

In the name of God amen I, George W. Shotwell of the Borough of Dallas Luzerne County, Pennsylvania being of sound memory and understanding to make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following viz: I direct that as soon after my death as conveniently can, that my just debts and funeral expenses be fully paid and satisfied; that after the same is done it is my will that my wife Sarah E. Shotwell to have all my estate both real and personal, whatsoever I may own at my death. I further constitute and appoint my wife Sarah E. Shotwell, Executrix of this my last will and testament; hereby making void any wills by me at any time heretof on made. In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this 3d of September A. D. 1889.

This day before me James McGreery Esq. Register of Wills in and of the county aforesaid personally came Henry Randall one of the subscribing witnesses to the above and forgoing last will and testament of George W. Shotwell late of the Borough of Dallas Luzerne County and State of Pennsylvania, deceased who being dully sworn according to law says he was present, saw and heard George W. Shotwell the testator sign seal publish pronounce and declare the forgoing instrument of writing as and for his last will and testament and that at the time of so doing he was of sound mind memory and understanding to the best of his knowledge and belief and that he did sign his name subscribing in the presence of Chas H. Cooke and in the presence and at the request of the said testator.

This day before me James McGreery Esq. Register of Wills in and of the county aforesaid personally came Chas H. Cook one of the subscribing witnesses to the above and forgoing last will and testament of George W. Shotwell late of the Borough of Dallas Luzerne County and State of Pennsylvania, deceased who, being dully sworn according to law, says he was present and saw and heard George W. Shotwell the testator sign seal publish, pronounce and declare the forgoing instrument of writing as and for his last will and testament and that at the time of so doing he was of sound mind, memory and understanding to the best of his knowledge and belief, and that he did sign his name as a subscribing witness in the presence of Henry Randall and in the presence and at the request of the said testator.

Now to viz: 24 day of October 1889 Having considered the testimony offered in this case and filed the same of record I do adjudge the forgoing writing to be duly proved as the last will and testament of the said George W. Shotwell now deceased, and as such I do inter the same of record according to law.

In Conformity with the above will and probate there of Letters Testamentary thereon were on this 24 day of Oct 1889 granted unto Mrs. Sarah Shotwell, she having first been duly sworn to will and truly administer the goods and chattels rights and credits which were of the said deceased according to law.
Given under my hand and seal of the Registers Office this 24 day of Oct 1889.
