William Barkley & AL. To James Porter

KNOW ALL MEN by these presents, that we William and James Barkley of the county of Lancaster in the Provance of Pennsylvania yeoman for and in consideration of the sume of one hundred and fifty pounds lawfull money of Pennsylvania to me in hand paid by James Porter Taylor of the Provance and County aforesaid, the recept whereof I do hereby acknowledge Have granted bargained sold released and confirmed, and by these presents Do grant bargain sell release and confirm unto the said James Porter his heirs and assigns forever,

A CERTAIN tract of land and improvements in Dromore Township Lancaster County being a tract of land whereon we now dwell, late the property of Andrew Barkley our father deceased; and was surveyed unto him our ad. Father then in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty three in pursuance of a Warrant from the Proprietors of the said Province, bearing date the twenty first day of March one thousand seven hundred and fifty three, joining the lands of James Lorimore Widow Robinson and Christly Newswanger James Ramsey, and Jacob Barr and John Smilie. CONTAINING by computation about one hundred and twenty seven acres be the same more or less with the rights and appurtonces thereunto belonging.

TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said tract of land with the appurtonces unto the said James Porter his heirs & assigns to his and their own proper use and behoof forever.

SUBJECT TO the payment of the residue of the purchase money interest quitrents due or to become due for the same to the honorable proprietors or chief lord or lords of the fee thereof. And we the said William and James Barkley do hereby covenant promise and agree for ourselves our heirs executors administrators to warrant & forever defend the said granted and bargained premises unto the said James Porter and his heirs forever against us & our heirs and against each other and all other persons claiming or that shall or may claim by from or under us.

LANCASTER COUNTY SS: Personally appeared befor me one of his Majesties Justice for said County the within named William Barkly and James Barkly and acknowledged the within Instrument of Writing to be their act and deed and desired the same should be Recorded as such. Acknowledged before me the subscribe this 5th day April 1770.
