"Be it remembered that I Robert Bailey of the Township of Sadsbury, County of Lancaster and State of Pennsylvania being of sound mind and memory but feeling that decay of nature that is incident to old age and bearing in mind that it is appointed to all men once to die I do on this Nineteenth day of October in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred and ninety-seven make and ordain this my last will and testament in the manner and form following viz - I alow all my just debts and funeral expenses to be paid as soon as convenient after my decease. And the money due to me from my son Francis Bailey for my plantation sold to him, together with such other monies as may belong to my estate I will and direct to be distributed in the following manner by my executors first I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Margaret Bailey one hundred pounds lawful money of the State of Pennsylvania to be paid to her of the first money that is collected after paying my debts and funeral expenses. I likewise will and bequeath to my four sons-in-law viz James Thompson, William Steele, John Steele and James Sterrett, five pounds to each of them of lawful money afor I likewise will and direct that one hundred pounds lawful money afor for purposes herein after mentioned shall be detained in the hands of my son Francis until it shall become due by directions herein after contained. And the remainder of the monies due or that may become due of my estate I will and direct to be dividied into six equal parts or shares and the first part or share of the said divided sum becoming due I will and bequeath to my son Francis Bailey and his heirs, and one sixth part together with fifty pounds of the money detained in the hands of my son Francis I will and bequeath to the widow and five daughters of my son Jacob, deceased. The said widow, Rachel Bailey to receive her dividend of the said share next after my son Francis and the several daughters viz Margaret, Rachel, Almina, Elizabeth and Hariotte to receive each an equal dividend of the said sum bequeathed to the family of my son Jacob Bailey, deceased when they arrive respectively to the age of twenty-one years. And the four remaining sixth parts I will and bequeath to my four daughters viz Lydia Thompson, Elizabeth Steele, Abigail Steele and Jennet Sterrett to be paid to them on their heirs as money become due to my estate agreeable to their seniority. It is also my will that the remaining fifty pounds detained in the hands of my son Francis be paid to my daughter Jennett Sterrett together with her share herein before mentioned in considerationof personal services rendered by her more than my other daughters. It is also my will that if any of my said daughters should die beofe their respective shares herein bequeathed shall become due or be paid, that in that case the said share shall be detained in the hands of my executors until the heirs of my said daughters or daughters deceased shall arrive at the age of twenty-one years bearing nevertheless an interest of six pence per annum from the time it becomes due. And further it is my will that if any of my said daughters should die before they receive their shares herein bequeathed and leave no issue of their own body that shall arrive to the age of twenty-one years, in that case it is my will that the said share bequeathed to such daughter shall be equally divided between my son Francis and my surviving daughters and their heirs. I hereby also bequeath to my son Francis my clock and it is my will that as I have made heretofore and now equivelant compensation to my said children for personal services, and that all accounts on that subject be hereby cancelled and fully and finally discharged. Finally I do hereby appoint and constitute my son Francis Bailey and my son-in-law James Thompson to be the executors of this my last will and testament and do hereby renounce all former wills by me made and do declare this and this only to be my last will and testament in witness whereof and for confirmation of the same I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year first above written.
