GLOFELTY, KURTZ posted by Brian L. Harmon on Wednesday, April 2, 1997

My Great-Great grandmother was Mary Katherine KURTZ, born 5 October 1853 in either Salisbury or Meyerdale, Penn. She married Joseph GLOFELTY 12 February 1874 in Grantsville, Md. My grandmother told me that Mary Katherine had two brothers, Leonard and Clem, who served in the Union Army during the U.S. Civil War. Also, according to Grandma, Mary's mother was the first R.N. in Maryland. I am interested in tying in with anyone who can help me extend my lines further back and confirm some of my Grandma's information.

NICHOLAS, RITTER posted by Barbara Palser on Thursday, April 3, 1997

surname: NICHOLAS. I'm trying to find the family connection for Mary Ann NICHOLAS who lived in Somerset County about 1800. Does anyone have any information on Nicholas or suggestions how to find a daughter of a family in 1800 era? She may have married Abraham RITTER there about 1800-1802. Maybe Reformed Church records? Ritters were Reformed Church, but have no idea about Nicholas. Their children were born in Pennsylvania, possibly in Westmoreland County. Abraham, Arthur and Hosea were their sons. Thanks very much for any help you can give me! Barbara Palser
