General Information
Somerset township was incorporated in 1796. The township was first settled
in 1771 and was formed from Quemahoning and Milford Township, two of the six
original townships in Somerset County.
Somerset Township is located in the center of the county. It is bounded to
the north by Lincoln
and Quemahoning Townships;
to the west by Jefferson
Township; to the south by Milford,
Black and
Brothers
Valley Townships; and to the east by Stonycreek
Township.
The main borough of Somerset Township is Somerset City which was first settled
in 1795 and was incorporated on 5 March 1804.
