First Generation

John Robb's Will 1761/1762 Cumberland Co PA, Book A, pgs 91-92,

In the Name of God Amen the twentyeth Day of June one thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty One I John Robb of the Township of Middleton and the providence of Pennsylvania Calling to mind the Mortality of my Body and that its appointed for all men once to die I make and Ordain this my last Will and Testament and for such Worldly estate Whereas that it has Pleased God to Bless me in this Life I give dispose and Bequeath the first In the Following manner & form. First I order that all my Just Debts and funerall Charges be paid. Also I will and Bequeath to my son James Robb the sum of Three Pounds. Also I will and Bequeath to my son Rob't Robb the sum of Three Pounds. Also I will and Bequeath to my Daughter Margret Robb the sum of Twenty Shillings. Also I will and Bequeath to my Daughter Isabel Robb one Tester Bed and Other Bed Cloaths in All to the Value of Seven Pounds & one horse and Saddle and Bridle in all to the Value of sixteen Pounds, One Choat Value Twenty Shillings and six pound in money or such Goods as suit her Circumstance and One Con (?) to the Value of Three Pounds and I will order and appoint that all the rest of my Estate Real and Personall Lands and Tenements be equally Divided Between my Two Sons John Robb and David Robb and I will that my son John Robb at (my) Decease he shall possess and enjoy his said half and I will when my son David Robb Comes to the Age of Twenty One years that he shall possess and enjoy his half and I nominate Constitute and Appoint my two sons James Robb and Robert Robb Executors of this my Last Will and Testament and that these my executors Divide these my Lands houses and Tenements equally to the best of their Judgments and a Lott to be cast Betwixt my two sons John Robb and David Robb for which half each of them shall enjoy. And also that from the time of my Decease until my son David come to the Age Afforesaid he shall have the profits arising from his own part of said Estate and I hereby Revoke Disallow and Disannull all other Wills and Testaments by me made and Acknowledge this only to be my Last Will and Testament as Witness my hand and seal the day and year above Written. Signed Sealed and Delivered in the Presence of Jno McKnight, John McBride & Mary McKnight------ John Robb seal

Be it remembered that on the 21st day of June 1762 Letters Testamentary Issued in Common Form to James & Rob’t Robb in said will named. Inventory to be Exhibited on or before the 21st Day of July next and an Acct of the Administration tendered When Whereunto Required Given Under my Hand and Seal of Office Harm L Alrichs

Abstracts of Lycoming County Wills, Lycoming Co., Pa,  Book A, p. 87,

Robert Robb, Muncy Twp.:

To wife Susanna all furniture, 4 cows, 4 sheep, money in the house, my large Bible and all other books on Divinity; servant boy Samuel Slice (etc.); to son John silver faced watch; other sons James and William, place where I now live; my books on law to sons James and William; to daus. Mary, Ann, Margaret, Sarah, Susannah, Isabel, and Elizabeth 100 acres of land surveyed in my name returned by Henry Donnel; to grandson Robert Shoemaker a heifer; to my ten children (as already named) title to 200 acres land in Kentucky, a present made by the King of Great Britain to the Officers of the Penna. Line surveyed 1771-2 or thereabouts and returned or offered returned to the officers of the Land Office they supposed under the Government of Virginia. Executors: Sons John and James. 2 Oct 1813. Witnesses: Robert Hawley, William Cox Ellis.

Excerpt from “Life and Times of Robert Robb, Esq”

Mercer County PA Wills, Book 1, pg 58,59, pages 58-59 Book one Mercer Co PA

In the name of God Amean. I James Robb of Crawford county and Sandy Creek township being in good health and sound memory do this the fifteenth day of Aprile one thousand eight hundred and three publish this my last will and testament in the manner following-- first I give unto my dear Wife fifty acres of land joining John Pollock Robb John Montgomery and Robert Morgan to her her heirs and assigns together with all my personal Estate and further to Thomas Robb John Pollock Robb Mary Willison Elizabeth McMillian and Margaret McMillan to each of them I alow one fourth of a dollar, as for my daughter Hanna Elrod which has not got her full share I recommend her to her Mother's care as her ability or diswasion will direct. And I appoint my son Thomas Robb and my dear Wife executor and executrix of the above part of my last Will and Testament. And I further that tracts of land in Westmoreland County and South hunting Township described in my deeds of conveyance from James Wilson I give and bequeth in the manner following--first I give two childrens part to my daughter Mary Willson -to her son James I give two children's part -to Elizabeth Wilson I give one child's part- to Martha Wilson I give one child's part -to Mary Wilson Junr I give one child's part-- to John Wilson I give one child's part- and further I give the rents and proffits of the lands to my daughter Mary Wilson for maintaining the children and if she thinks justify requires it she may sell twenty acres of land not exceeding twenty five next to Gasper Miniles or next Morgans or McClintocks corner -- Maintaining and Schooling the children- the Land is not to be sold untill John Willson is fourteen years of age -- I do appoint Andrew Findley Esqr and my daughter Mary Wilson Executor and Executrix of this part of my last Will and Testament

 [Editor’s Notes: [“Ithiel” is a minor Old Testament figure whose name means in Hebrew “God is with me”.  Perhaps it serves here and below as a kind of greeting or religious expression, such as “In the name of God”.  DoD is short for  Doctor of Divinity.]

We do hereby certify this fifteenth day of Aprile in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & three-- that James Robb appears sufficently capable of making a judicious and equal distribution of his property--certified by us--- William Wylie Ithiel Dod-----

Mercer County SS personally appeared before me one of the Commonwealths Justices of the peace in and for Mercer County the subscribing witness Itheil Dod and being sworn according to Law and upon his oath doth upon and say that on the fifteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & three that the above mentioned James Robb appeared sufficently capable of making a judicious and equal distribution of his property---Sworn and subscribed before me this twentith day of June 1809--

This is the verification of Isabella Robb’s marriage. I have not tried to follow that thread.

This is a really good road map of the extended family, and expressly defines the relationships.

This was a thrill for me when I found it (yesterday), as it takes away any uncertainty!
