| This section was inspired by Carol Brotzman of
Tuscarora Township, Bradford County, PA. Carol has made many valuable contributions to our site, not the least of which
are the maps and page links to maps provided here. We are grateful to Carol for suggesting this page and providing
the initial information and map photos. We would be delighted to review additional suggestions and map contributions from our readers.
The first entry below is a remarkable set of maps from Bradford County. The page was developed by Mark Daly. One of the most informative features of this map collection is that it attempts to locate by name the homesteads of the folks then currently living in the county townships. Several of these townships lay along the border of Sullivan County and were functionally tied to Dushore, Laporte or other communities to the south, more so than to Bradford County itself. These towns included Albany, Wilmot and Overton. Look closely at these maps; you can also click on the map of each town to enlarge it. You will find many familiar names and what you are actually seeing is the original homestead location for each of these families. Of course, there are misspellings, approximations of what must have sounded unfamiliar in Gaelic or German to the map recorder, and some names are just not legible or are partially marked out. Nevertheless, this map and those that follow it are invaluable aides to our efforts to understand and reconstruct the history of Sullivan and neighboring counties. Additional links and maps are shown below. The Bradford County maps are presented first, then the Sullivan County maps. Note the 1878 geological survey map of Sullivan County at the top of this page as well. We have also appended an 1881 map of Susquehanna County, since that is where the Heverly family so prominent in the 19th century in Sullivan and Bradford Counties, came from. The following three maps are published in the online Wikipedia encyclopedia, and are reproduced here under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License. The first two show township and other political boundary maps. The third is a color map of the major waterways of north central Pennsylvania, anchored on Lycoming County:
