2 March 1882
· Sonestown - Rev. ANTES, a minister of the M. E. Church, who was located here a few years ago, died on Tuesday, after a long illness, his funeral took place on Thursday.
· Albert HAZEN, formerly of this place, is now in Missouri, teaching school,his family intend joining him soon.
· Chas. HOAGLAND, a small-pox patient of Towanda, died on the 24th ult. His brother, Chester, is recovering from the same disease.
· Mrs. James KELLEY, of Forks, died on Thursday last, aged 68 years. Her remains were interred in the Catholic cemetery at this place on Saturday.
· A son of Hiram CHILSON, of Towanda Twp., had his arm cut off about midway between the hand and elbow on Saturday last, in a horse power corn stalk cutter.
· James THOMPSON who had been dangerously ill for the past six weeks, is very much better.
· Mr. and Mrs. John BIRD, of Millview have an addition of their family, it is a 10 ½ pound boy.
· Mr. and Mrs. William DITRICH, of Towanda, will receive congratulations. It is a daughter, weight ten pounds.
· "Uncle" Jim SMITH, one of the pioneers of this section of country who resides in Cherry, is dangerously ill with typhoid fever. It is reported that his recovery is doubtful.
9 March 1882
· Notice! All persons indebted to me are requested to make immediate payment. I need the money and must have it in order to rebuild my property destroyed by the late fire. Michael BURKE.
· The dwelling house owned and occupied by James GANSEL, in Laporte Twp., burned on Saturday last. We have not learned the amount of the loss.
· Mrs. Catharine MC CARTY, of Binghamton, formerly Miss MC GEE, of Cherry, died in the former place on Saturday last. Her remains were bought to this place for burial. The funeral took place on Tuesday.
· Mrs. Lewis HOLMES, of Cherry, was stricken with paralysis on Sunday last, since which time she has been in a very critical condition, and her death
is expected at any time. She is the mother of W. S. HOLMES of this office, her sudden illness called him home, and as Mr. HOLMES has charge of the mechanical part of the "Review", his absence makes our issue for this week later than ever before.
· Later - Mrs. HOLMES died on Thursday at 1 o'clock P.M. Her remains will be interred in the Laporte Cemetery on Saturday. Funeral services at the M. E. Church in Laporte at 12 o'clock. Rev. GREGSON will officiate.
· Bloomsburg had a sensation last week over the death of Mrs. KRUG, who died very suddenly at the house a Mrs. GROSS. The latter has been arrested and lodged in jail on a charge of malpractice.
16 March 1882
· Work on the telephone line between this place and Laporte has been commenced.
· Ed REMSNYDER who was confined in jail at Laporte on a charge of highway robbery, was taken to Towanda by Sheriff DEEGAN, on Saturday and placed in the jail at that place, as our jail is only intended for those prisoners who are willing to stay.
· Mrs. and Mrs. J. P. MC CARTY, Miss Mina BEDFORD and Miss Clemmine MC CARTY will leave this place for Iowa within a short time.
· Mrs. Thomas IRVING, who has been visiting her mother in this place for several months, has returned to her home in Springville, PA
· Mrs. Hiram LONG, of Cherry, was called to Kane, McKean Co., about two weeks ago, by the illness of her son, Mr. E. W. LONG, who had a severe attack of typhoid fever. We learn that the young man is much better, and that he
expects to resume work again within a short time.

· J. KING, of Laporte and Miss Dora A. HART, of Elkland, at the residence of the bride's mother, Dec. 27th, 1881, by Rev. G. L. PAINE
· G. L. NORTON and Miss Minnie FAWCETT, both of Elkland, at the home of the bride, on Feb. 16th, by Rev. G. PAINE
· Charles LANDON, of Dallas, PA and Miss Emma BRACKER, of Thorndale, at the Lutheran Parsonage, Dushore, on March 7th, by Rev. R. S. WAGNER
· Adam STEMBURG is erecting a house on the island opposite Towanda.
· Harry, son of Thomas MAGARGLE of Sonestown broke his leg while wrestling a short time ago.
· William BERGAN, about 21 years of age, residing in Cherry, is dangerously ill with typhoid fever.
· Milton WATTLES, of Rome, Bradford Co., was seriously injured last Friday, by a large log which rolled over him. His recovery is doubtful.
· A. H. SALDING, ex-sheriff of Bradford Co., died at the residence of his son in law, John W. MIX, in Towanda on Sunday, aged 65 years.
· B. S. WEISS, of this place has rented a hotel at Forkston, Wyoming Co., and will take possession April 1st. He has had some experience as a hotel
keeper and will undoubtedly become a popular landlord.
· Frank INGHAM, of Laporte, who is a student at Cornell University, is home for a two week's vacation.
· Miss Anna J., youngest daughter of the late Judge STALFORD, of Wyalusing, died on Monday after a brief illness.
· Miss Louise GAVITT, of Sonestown, took the train at this place Monday morning for Dakota, where she goes to look after her real estate interests.
· Dr. V. HOMET, wife and daughter, of Camptown, Bradford Co., passed through town on Wednesday. Mrs. HOMET is a sister of Judge INGHAM.
· Mrs. William LAMBERT, of Forks who has been very ill at the residence of Judge WRIGHT in Forksville, for several months, is still very low and her recovery is considered doubtful.
· George SHANTINE, an old citizen of Wolf Twp., Lycoming Co., committed suicide by shooting himself through the head on Monday the 14th inst. It is reported that he had been very much depressed in spirit, since the death
of a daughter a few months ago.
· Peter PICKLE, a resident of Albany Twp., Bradford Co., while working on a dwelling house, about two weeks ago, fell to the ground and struck on his head, fracturing the skull from the effects of which he died within six
hours. He was formerly a resident of New Jersey.
· Mrs. F. P. VINCENT, died Friday evening. Her remains were taken to Milan, Bradford Co., her former home for burial. [See next week]
· On Wednesday last, Cyrus BAILEY and George BARNES, with their wives, were preparing to visit a friend. The ladies had been seated in the carriage, which was standing in front of the house, when the horses became frightened
and ran, upsetting the wagon throwing both women out. Mrs. BAILEY was so badly injured that she lived but an hour or so. She was buried on Friday. Mrs. BARNES was seriously injured but will recover. The accident occurred
at Granville.
· The funeral of Mrs. Mary, wife of Lewis HOLMES, Esq., of Cherry Twp., was held on the 11th inst. She was buried in Laporte Cemetery beside her father.
30 March 1882
· James GAINER, who resides near Cherry Mills, is sick with fever.
· O. D. KINNEY, Esq., a prominent attorney of Towanda has decided to locate in Minneapolis, Minn.
· Mrs. MASON, wife of the county treasurer of Laporte, is dangerously ill with typhoid fever
· Miss Eliza SULLIVAN, an old lady who resided in Towanda, died quite suddenly on Friday. Her remains were brought to this place for burial by a special train on Sunday.
· Mrs. Lewis ZANER, Esq., of Cherry, reached the ripe age of 80 years on Sunday last.
· Mrs. Patrick O'BRIEN, widow, of Cherry, died after a brief illness on Friday last, aged nearly 70 years. She had been a resident of this vicinity for a long time. The funeral on Monday was largely attended.
· Michael DOYLE, about 25 years of age, of Cherry Twp., died very suddenly at Benazette, Elk Co., on Saturday last. He had been working in the lumber woods since last fall. His remains will be brought to this place for
burial.
· Eldredsville - Dennis TOMPKINS, died at his home in this township, March 16th.
· Eldredsville - Frank NORTON and Miss Rebecca BOWER were married on the 15th inst.
· Mrs. Etta, wife of Fred VINCENT, of Dushore, formerly of Milan, died March 17th with typhoid pneumonia. Funeral services were held at the church, Sabbath afternoon. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel N. HAVENS, of
Laurel Hill. She leaves a husband and 2-year old daughter.
6 April 1882
· Mrs. Jennie GREELEY, of Rochester, NY, formerly a Miss CLARK, of Rome, Bradford Co., committed suicide by shooting on March 26th. Jealousy was the cause.
· John, son of James FARRELL, of Albany, employee of the L. V. R. R., was injured quite seriously at Sayre last week, by a caboose passing over his limbs.
· Geo. W. BENDER has purchased a farm in Forks Twp. and has moved from this place.
· Dennis TOMPKINS, an old resident of this place departed this life on the morning of the 18th inst., his remains were interred in the Catholic Cemetery at "Sugar Ridge."
· Sonestown - Albert HAZEN'S family left on Saturday for Missouri, where they will make their permanent home in the future.
· Alfred STROUP died on Sunday. He leaves a wife and two children. About ten years ago he had a severe attack of inflammatory rheumatism from the effects of which he never fully recovered.
· New Salem - George STREBY will move into his new house in a few days. We have failed as yet to find out what Mr. and Mrs. STREBY have named their young daughter.
13 April 1882
· H. M. STEVENSON and family of Sonestown have removed to Iowa.
· Julius VOGLE, of Bernice, left on Tuesday for Germany, where he will visit relatives.
· Mrs. William LAMBERT, of Forks, died at the residence of Judge WRIGHT in Forksville last week.
· Mrs. C. C. FINCH, of Laporte, left this place on Monday, for Burlington, Iowa, where she will visit relatives.
· Augustus SICK, of Forks, is dangerously ill, he is under the care of Dr. WADDELL, of this place, and Dr. PARK, of Overton.
· Colley - The birch oil distillery is now running successfully.
· A little daughter came to Daniel ELY'S on Saturday last.
· Edwin J. SAYLOR, died at Scranton, Monday, aged 29 years and 9 months, from heart disease.
· Philip SHRIMP and Miss Anna EPLER, both of Forks, married at the Lutheran Parsonage, Dushore, April 10, by Rev. R. S. Wagner.
20 April 1882
· An infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Edward DONEGAN died on Wednesday last.
· Mrs. Jospeh PARDOE, of Elkland, who has been an invalid for a number of years, died on Wednesday last, and was buried on Friday.
· Mr. and Mrs. CUMMISKY, of the Exchange Hotel, have an addition to their family, of two daughters; mother and children are getting along nicely.
· William HANAWAY, an old and respected resident of Cherry, died at the residence of his daughter in Towanda on the 12th inst. His remains were brought to this place of burial, with the funeral on Thursday.
· Walter C. BATTIN and Miss Mellie MC CARTY, of Elkland, were married on Wednesday last.
· Clinton MOLYNEUX and family of Forksville, have removed to Picture Rocks, Lycoming Co. where he will establish himself in the watch making and jewelry business.
· Elizabeth, eldest daughter of John and Kate GAUTSCH, died at Muncy Valley, April 9th, aged 19 years, 4 months and 24 days.
· Walter C. BATTIN and Miss Mellie E. MC CARTY, both of Elkland, married at the residence of the bride's father, Jesee R. MC CARTY, on the 12th inst., by Rev. Richard Bedford.
27 April 1882
· Mr. and Mrs. Ezra KELLOGG, of Monroe, celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of their marriage on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. J. V. RETTENBURY attended the anniversary of her parents.
· Q. A. KLINE has resumed his former occupation, of harness making, and has taken a position with H. A. HOFFA.
· Matilda BROWN, tried at Montrose for the killing of an old man named, Owen DONAHUE, on the 17th last December, was found guilty of murder in the second degree, at the last term of court.
