NOTE: Herein lies the error in Justice's
reckoning: he wrongly attributed the line to pass through (#10 above) Sir
Robert's second wife, Lady Joan Beaufort. We arrive at the same end from the
17th generation through Edward 1st’s second wife, Margaret, rather than Eleanor of Castile. See main
chart.

CHART
10B1
THE LINE FROM ADAM TO THE PLUNKETT FAMILY
The following chart is submitted as a flight of fancy. It was the custom for centuries for monarchs to genealogically ally themselves with great monarchs of the past as well as Biblical figures to increase their power over their subjects and against their enemies (hence the term "Divine Right of Kings."). Proof of lineage would also guarantee them a place in heaven. Members of the royalty would therefore employ a genealogist or a team of genealogists to create a blood line.
Establishing a connection with Biblical figures and artifacts has, of course, peppered western history. Pieces of the One True Cross and bones of the Saints have forever turned up and, as recently as 1942, Adolph Hitler had members of the Army of the Third Reich scouring southern France for the Ark of the Covenant, possession of which, he believed, would insure complete mastery of the world.
The Irish Race has long tied their origin to Milesius of Spain, whose origins were traced in turn to Adam, the first Man, through Japhet, third son of Noah.
Though the he following is submitted in the spirit of fun, and much seems impossible given the lack of written records, understand that it is very much within an oral tradition and is sprinkled with many famous names, both real and somewhat mythological, in Irish history.
