| Cemetery Name: Huber Family Cemetery (Huber-Malone-Rankin-Coulter-Bell) Private Cemetery Address: Huber Road (map) Phone: n/a. Location: Fallowfield Township, Bentleyville PA, Washington County, PA, near the back or East side of Bentleyville. Its a short road - maybe a couple of miles long. Mostly wooded and meadow land otherwise, from what I could see. Background: The Huber Cemetery is a small family plot, apparently for the Huber-Malone-Rankin families. From a descendant, Denise Huber Green: "James B. Harlan was my great great grandfather. Edward Morton owed the land. His daughter Nancy A (Anna) married James. She and her sister Mary lived there in the house that Edward built in 1850 till they passed away. They are all buried up on the hill. The stone is pretty faded, with their stats on one side and Mary's on the other. Their daughter Mary married a Rankin and their daughter married a Coulter who lived in the home till they passed. A Coulter still lives in the home. The other daughter Sarah married and had my grandmother, Eunice Pearl, who married my grandfather Lawerence Huber. They had 9 children and they all lived on the road originally, which is why its called Huber Road. My mom still lives on the road and quite a few cousins. I am the daughter of Fred Huber. All of the original children are gone. I live in Ohio and am trying to do my line.
Census: Copied by Judith Florian from photos taken by Nikki at the Charleroi Historical Society after she identified and located the cemetery. Here is a map of Huber Road with the cemetery location marked, approximately. Via satellite view - Shows old farm house, the lane with gardens on right side as you are going up, etc. At top of knoll - the lane ends - all grassy and the cemetery is under the grouping of trees to the right, you can see some of the grave stones in the front. From the direction from Capozza Rd. and St. Rte. 2023 (coming from East to West), it is the very first place on the right hand side and the lane is right before the old house pictured and has "Posted, No Trespassing" signs on the trees on both sides. The lane going up is not in real good condition - is grass-ed over, but firm after you get up the initial rutted driveway. The family has been taking good care of the area around it up on the knoll - mowed, etc. |
