Cemetery Name: Barnabas McNamee Cemetery

Location: On the Michael Mahaffey Farm on Barneys Run Road in West Pike Run Twp., Washington Co., PA.

Background: The Lintons (Bg Note - Joshua and his son Mahlon) came from Bucks County, PA., to this township, and about the year 1800 the father purchased the land upon which Barney McNamee had settled.
Source: Boyd Crumrine, "History of Washington County, Pennsylvania with Biographical Sketches of Many of Its Pioneers and Prominent Men" (Philadelphia: L. H. Leverts & Co., 1882). East Bethlehem Twp. (pp. 764-774)

When Barnabus McNamee bought the tract it was called “Mason’s Bower”.  On this map you can see the J. Linton and O.M. Linton (Olive M.) property along Barneys Run Rd. south of Centerville:

There are 3 known unmarked graves of Barnabas McNamee (1793), Mary McNamee (1809), his wife, and Jacob McNamee (1811), his son. The graves were unmarked because of Quaker doctrine at that time.
