Background: Cross Roads United Presbyterian Church was organized about 1810. The first pastor was Rev. Dr. Samuel Finley, in connection with the West Middletown Church.  The Trustees of the Society purchased the lot on which the church stands, containing one and one-half acres of Nathaniel Woods, Sept. 30, 1816, it being part of a Grant to Robert Hughes, Nov. 13, 1816. Additions have been made to this, and a cemetery created on one part of the Church grounds. The congregation has had three places of worship: (1) The Tent (2) A Frame Building and (3) the present Brick Building, which they now (in about 1936) occupy. They also have a parsonage. The Church and Graveyard are kept in fine condition. An improved road runs by the Church.

Census: This data was collected by the DAR and found in the genealogy section of the Washington PA library. The data is from 1938 so the burial records may not be complete.
Published in "Miscellaneous Cemeteries, Washington Co., PA." Vol. 1, 1939. Copies in genealogical collection at Citizens Library and Washington Law Library in Washington, PA.
