Mt. Prospect Presbyterian Church was formed on April 20, 1825, when Washington Presbytery gave approval to a movement among the Scotch-Irish settlers of Mt. Pleasant for the establishment of a Presbyterian church at Hickory. The first burial in the Mt. Prospect cemetery was around 1830.
