Location: West Finley Twp., north of Burnsville on LR 62121 in Washington Co., PA. 

Latitude: 40° 0' 57.38" N, 

Longitude: 80° 26' 53.03" W

Directions from Claysville: Take US-40 W/Main St toward Green St for 0.3 mi; turn left at PA-231 S/Bell Ave and continue to follow PA-231 South for 1.7 mi; turn left at PA-231 S/E Finley Dr for 1.9 mi; turn right at Burnsville Ridge Rd for 2.3 mi; turn left at Burnsville Ridge Rd/State Route 3029 for 3.7mi, cemetery is on left.

Background: According to the DAR report, “The cemetery is beautifully located on a high hill near Burnsville. The condition is fine with circle in the center and a large flag pole erected there.

The land was originally granted to Hercules Roney, called “Green Sprint.” He emigrated to America about 1775 and was a chainman for Col. William Crawford as a surveyor in Yohogana Co. VA. 

Hercules certificate bears the date of December 21, 1779. He build a large strong fort near the cemetery; known as Roney’s Block House or Roneys Fort.”

More Information: This cemetery is still in use.  This data was collected by the DAR and found in the genealogy section of the Washington PA library. The data is from 1939 so the burial records may not be complete
