PAGE THIRTY-NINE: The following were received by letter viz. (Table added by webmaster; typed into table in left to right manner as in the original)
July 26, 1868 Sister Cecelia (sic) IMBRIE received on letter of communication from the church at New Castle PA also Melinda COOK who had formerly been a member of the church took membership at the same time as her husband Mr. COOK signified his desire of membership by making good confefsion. (sic) At a meeting held by Br. CRANE during the month of Jan. 1869 the following persons were immersed and took membership vix. (these were in two columns in the original; typed as-is)
At the same meeting the following persons were restored to membership
(continued sentence) also George MARTIN who was immersed while in the Army was admitted and Mr. PORTER from the Baptists. May 30 1869 Mary CLOUSE formerly a member of the Baptists (was) received as a member.
PAGE FORTY: Henry W. BANE was received into the church by confefsion (sic) and immersion. H. W. BANE and wife granted letters of recommendation. Aug. '69 Letters of commendation granted to J. (B.?) CRANE, Sharlotte (R.?) CRANE and Lottie Bell CRANE. Aug. '69 John LACOCK reinstated to membership in the church. Dec. 1869 Br. T. A. CRENSHAW commenced his labors as pastor of the church in Washington. Br. CRENSHAW and wife and daughter were received as a members on letters of commendation. (space added) The following persons were added to the church - Nellie Monniger, Frank Griffith Wolf. Nov. 1870 Sister HOWEL received by letter. (space added) Br. MARSHALL immersed by Br. POWER (and was) received into the church. Departed this life Nov. 19th 1870 Elder. Samuel NICOL in the 87th year of his life. (Jan. 1st 1871 but listed under "Nov. 1870") Departed this life Br. Smith E. McELROY Jan. 1st 1871 aged 38 years. [Webmaster: These next dates are all out of order.] March 1870 (is this out of order or did they mean 1871? If so, is McElroy's death year wrong ? Likely they meant March 1871 for these next entries.) Departed this life Sister Sharlotte MARTIN aged 66 years. Jan. 1870 Sister Mary Jane MONINGER departed this life aged 44 years. Feb. 1870 The former board of Trustees reelected. (July 1871 but under Feb. 1870 entries) Departed this life Br. Jonathan MARTIN July 1871. Feb. 1871 The following persons were elected Trustees of the Church of Christ meeting in Washington
Nov. 1869 Br. T. A. CRENSHAW accepted a call of the church as pastor for one year commencing Dec. 1st 1869 for which he is to receive $1200 and have eight Sundays to labor elsewhere. Br. CRENSHAW's wife and daughter (were) received into the church by letters. Mattie Bell MONINGER immersed by Br. CRENSHAW (and) received into the church. Frank Griffith (e.g. Wolf) immersed by Br. CRENSHAW (and) received as a member. Mary Jane LACOCK immersed at Pleasant Valley admitted into the church.
