Poland Township, Ohio

Samuel H. McBRIDE, deceased, was born in Mercer county, Pennsylvania, April 29, 1809. His father, John [McBRIDE], was a native of Washington county [, Pennsylvania], and followed farming. He died about the year 1853. Samuel McBRIDE came to Ohio in the Spring of 1836, and located in Lowellville, Poland township [, Ohio]. He was married in the fall of the same year--October 3, 1836-- to Miss Phebe HARRIS, daughter of Barnabas HARRIS, of Coitsville township [, Ohio]. Mr. McBRIDE engaged in the mercantile business at Lowellville, and continued in it until 1875, when his health failed him, and, in consequence, [he] retured from business. He died March 5, 1881, highly esteemed by all who enjoyed his acquaintance. He was a member of the United Presbyterian church. Mrs. McBRIDE still resides in Lowellville, where she lived so many years with her late husband. She is the mother of three children--Leander, John, and Rose.
