Newspaper article 1927: Civil War Soldiers, East Finley Twp., Washington Co PA Aged War Vets Are Enjoying Best of Health

Stony Point, July 7. --
Two old Civil war veterans, East Finley township's only survivors, are hanging on to life most tenaciously, and bid fair to continue to abide on terra firma for years to come. They are Joseph WHIZZEN, living near the Stony Point Methodist Episcopal church, who in August will celebrate his 84th anniversary (i.e. birthday), and J. Nelson EALY, a jolly bachelor, residing on an eminence overlooking the country for miles around, near the old East Finley post-office. Mr. EALY is a successful farmer and stock raiser, and though past his four score mark continues to supervise all affairs on his farm. Both have good war records and are receiving a little pecuniary assistance from "Uncle Sam," who is good to all the old veterans.
