Mrs. Mary Gantz Harvey, Aged 90 Years, Was Great-Granddaughter of Revolutionary Soldier of This County.

Mrs. Mary Gantz Harvey, one of Washington's oldest citizens and a member of one of Washington County's pioneer families, died at 6 o'clock Tuesday night in her home, 245 West Hallam Avenue.  She was a daughter of Abraham and Rosanna Horn Gantz, and was born in Buffalo Township, near the old "S" bridge, August 9, 1841. She was aged 90 years, six months and 14 days. <Note from contributor: this would make the date of death Tuesday, February 23, 1932>

Her great-grandfather, Hardman Horn, was a pioneer settler of this county and a soldier in the Revolutionary War. His name appears on the first tax list of Washington County.

She was educated in the Buffalo Township schools and at the Glenwood Seminary at New Brighton. She was married twice. Her first husband was William Wolf, well known Civil War veteran. They had three children, Mert F. Wolf and Rosanna C., wife of John E. Murray, at home, and Christopher C. Wolf, of Pittsburgh. Her second husband was John C. Harvey, another Civil War veteran, of Morris Township.

Early in life she united with the Baptist Church at Buffalotown, and after moving to Morris Township became a member of the Mt. Zion Methodist Episcopal Church, near Prosperity.

Mrs. Harvey had always enjoyed fine health and had never found it necessary to wear glasses.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 o'clock, at the home. Interment will be in the Washington Cemetery."
