Mrs. Elizabeth S. Wise (1897-1960)

Mrs. Elizabeth S. Wise, 62, of 21 Hall avenue, Washington, died Wednesday, February 17, 1960, at 3:45 a.m. in Washington Hospital after a five-day illness.

She was born in Wayne Township, Greene County, July 3, 1897, a daughter of John R. and Anna Longstreth Kern. Mrs. Wise was a member of First Methodist Church of Waynesburg and for many years attended Jefferson Avenue Methodist Church of Washington.

She was Past Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge, Waynesburg and was an organist and soloist for a number of years in the churches of the western area of Greene County.

September 19, 1913, she married William H. Wise, who survives.

Also surviving are seven sons and four daughters; Donald F., of Washington; John W., of Waynesburg; Sgt. Allen C., in the U.S. Army in Germany; Robert L., of Canonsburg; James E., of Wolfdale; Pvt. Edward L., in the U.S. Army at Fort Knox, Ky.; Gerald, of Chicago, Ill.; Olive May, wife of David Hannen, of Washington; Mrs. Dorothy A. Raber, of Waynesburg; Wilma E. Wise, at Home; and Ruth A., wife of James Johnson, of Washington.

She is also survived by one brother, George W. Kern, and one sister, Mrs. Ida O. Mills, both of Waynesburg; 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren
