John Hill’s wife was Nancy Hootman, daughter of David and Nancy (Parkinson) Hootman.

In the name of God Amen. I John Hill of Somerset Township Washington County Pennsylvania being of sound mind and memory and knowing the certainty of Death and the uncertainty of life doth make publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament.
Item 1st. I direct my executor hereinafter named to pay all my just Debts and funeral expenses out of the first moneys that may come into his hands.
Item 2nd. I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Nancy Hill all my estate Real personal and mixed for and during her natural lifetime.
Item 3rd. And at the Death of my wife Nancy Hill I will and bequeath to my Daughter Jennie [middle initial unreadable] Hill all my estate real personal and mixed that may be remaining absolute to do with as she pleases.
And I do hereby constitute and appoint my Friend Andrew McDonald Esq. sole executor of this my last will and Testament.
In witness whereof I John Hill the Testator have to this my will written written [sic] on one sheet of paper set my hand and seal this 17th day of October A.D. one thousand and eighty [unreadable]

Personally appeared Wm. Gamble one of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing last will and testament of John Hill deceased an don his solemn oath did say that he was present and did see and hear John Hill deceased the testator therein named sign, seal, publish and declare the same as and for his last will and testament, and that at the doing thereof he was of sound, disposing mind, memory and understanding to the best of the affiant's knowledge and belief.W.J.
