The last will and testament of John Morrison
I John Morrison of Nottingham township Washington County Pa. knowing of the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound mind and memory thanks to Almighty God, After commending my Soul to God and my body to a christian burial do make my last will and testament as follows.
And 1st I give and bequeath to my well beloved wife Elisabeth Morrison the occupancy of my dwelling house together with all of the household and kitchen furniture including Beds and Beding with authority to dispose of among my children as she please together with a sufficiency of the interest and income of my farm to maintain her decently and comfortably during her natural life. And if my outstanding debts can be collected I will them to my wife Elisabeth Morrison in lieu of her dowry if she remains my widow and if otherwise all shall be null and void as to her.
2nd. I give and bequeath to my daughter Eleanor One horse, saddle and bridle and two cows and One Thousand dollars to be paid out of the Real Estate, and if she remains single until after the death of her Mother she shall have the privilege of one room in the north end as comes [?] of the house in the lower storey whilst remaining single.
3th [sic]. I give and bequeath to my grandson John Morrison Three Hundred dollars if he shall live to the age of Twenty two years.
4th. I give and bequeath to my sons Benjamin P. and William H. all my Real Estate to be equally divided between them by them paying the above legacies share and share alike to hold to them their heirs and assigns forever. And if Wm. dies without heirs Benj. to get the whole farm with the appurtenances by paying whatever may be behind of the Legacies.
And I do hereby appoint and ordain my Sons Benjamin P. and William H. Sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this 10th day of April in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and forty-eight.

Be it remembered that on the 24th day of August A.D. 1848 Before me William Workman Register for the probate of wills and granting letters of administration in and for said County came Peter Devore and George Patterson two of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing last will and testament of John Morrison deceased who being duly sworn according to law do depose and say that they were personally present and did see the said Testator execute the foregoing Will and heard him publish pronounce and declare the same as and for his last Will and Testament and that they subscribed their names as witnesses thereto at the request of the Testator in his presence and in the presence of each other and at the time of his so doing he was of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding to the best of their knowledge observation and belief. And sworn to and subscribed before me William Workman, Register - Peter Devore - George Patterson
