Pride, Patriotism, Love of
Country are not just words. They represent a very important part of
C.A.R. whose members provide tomorrow’s leaders for our nation.
The National Society Children
of the American Revolution was founded in 1895. It is the oldest
patriotic organization for youths in our country. Any young person
under the age of twenty-one is eligible for membership and can
remain a member until the twenty-second birthday. The prospective
member must be lineally descended from a man or woman who, with
unfailing loyalty, rendered material aid to the cause of American
Independence as a soldier, sailor, civil officer, or recognized
patriot in one of the several Colonies or States, or of the United
States.
Members gain invaluable
leadership experience in conducting meetings, following
parliamentary procedures and standard protocol, service as delegates
and speaking before groups at local, state and national meetings.
Members also gain an understanding of the democratic process
annually when officers are elected.
Originally organized in 1960 as
Washington’s Crossing Society headquartered in Levittown, it was
reorganized in April 2004 as Washington Crossing Society
headquartered in Washington Crossing, PA. Our membership has grown
rapidly and is continuing to grow. All members, regardless of age,
are included in our yearly programs. Those living out of town are
kept informed and encouraged to participate. We have two members
living in Colorado who actively participate in our projects.
Washington Crossing Chapter DAR
is our sponsor. They generously provide our senior leaders, support
our projects and help us financially. We provide the March program
for the Chapter.
