MacGillivray, Sister Marie Berchmans

Sister Marie Berchmans MacGillivray, 87, Bethany Motherhouse, Antigonish, died Tuesday, Dec. 29 in St. Martha's Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Trenton, she was the former Sarah Maria, a daughter of the late John and Ellen (Bigelow) MacGillivray. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Martha in 1925 and spent almost 50 years of her religious life at St. Martha's Convent and Bethany. She spent some time in Toronto, Glace Bay, Margaree, Halifax, Sydney and Banff. She is survived by a brother; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters; two brothers. Funeral was held Saturday, Jan. 2 in Bethany Chapel, Rev. John MacGillivray officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Bethany Cemetery, Antigonish.
