ARCHIBALD, Lee Roy
ARCHIBALD, Lee Roy - 81, Sunset Haven Rest Home, New Glasgow, formerly of Thorburn, died May 6, 1997, in the home. Born in Kemptown, Colchester Co., he was a son of the late Alfred and Rose (Fisher) Archibald. He was a carpenter and worked in McBain Mine, Thorburn, for 25 years. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders overseas for three years. He was an adherent of Bible Baptist Independent Church, New Glasgow, and member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 28, Stellarton. Surviving are his former wife, Lucy (Hingley); daughters, Sonja (Mrs. Scott MacLean), Cathy (Mrs. Ken Lynch), Pictou; sons, Alvin, Nelson, Thorburn; Alfred, Truro; Dennis, Stellarton; Boyd, Calgary, Alta.; Clary, Toronto; sister, Margaret Allan, Truro; brothers, Herbert, Kemptown; Edgar, Lower Onslow; 24 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by son, Stephen in infancy; grandson, Donald Lee in infancy; sister, Vera; brothers, Stan, George, Charlie. Visitation 24, 7-9 p.m. today and Thursday in P&K MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral 2 p.m. Friday in Bible Baptist Independent Church, Rev. Kevin May officiating. Burial in Thorburn Cemetery. Donations to Canadian Diabetes Association, Pictou County Branch, Bible Baptist Independent Church or any charity.
