HALLIDAY, Alexander W. (Alex) - 59, 314 Marsh St., New Glasgow, formerly of Mark Road, Riverton, died February 28, 1994, in University Hospital, London, Ont. Born in White Hill, Pictou County, he was a son of the late Adam and Jessie (Reid) Halliday. He retired from the RCMP and Pictou District School Board where he was employed as a bus driver for many years. While serving in the RCMP all his service was in Newfoundland. He was a member of the former Zion Presbyterian Church, Eureka, and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 75, Eureka. He is survived by his wife, the former Bernadette Crotty; daughter, Tena (Mrs. George White), St. John's, Nfld.; son, Stephen, Lillooet, B.C.; a granddaughter; brother, Gordon, Foxbrook; stepmother, Edith (Smith) Halliday, Riverton Heights; six half-sisters, Kathleen Cosh, Liverpool; Linda Burge, Quebec; Sharon Carson, Moncton, N.B.; Heather Grafton, Halifax; Doris Matheson, Dartmouth; Colleen Phinney, Trenton; four half-brothers, Edgar, Creighton, Kevin, all of Hortonville, Eureka; Ralph, British Columbia; two foster sisters, Adeline Smith, Jean MacKay, both of New Glasgow; foster brother, Rev. Fraser Dunbar, Riverton. He was predeceased by his foster parents, the late Lt.-Col. John W.A. and Tena (Jardine) Dunbar; two halfbrothers, George, Ian. Funeral will be 11 a.m. today in H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow, Rev. Charles MacPherson officiating. Burial will be in Marshdale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Multi-Organ Transplant Service Unit, University Hospital, London, Ont. or Aberdeen Hospital, Palliative Care Unit.
