ROSS, Alfred Gordon (Alfie) - 71, Plymouth, Pictou Co., died May 31, 1997, in QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born in Kenzieville, Pictou Co., he was a son of the late John Malcolm Ross and Kathryn (Cockerill) (Ross) MacKenzie. He resided in Upper Barneys River in his earlier years and had been a resident of Plymouth for the past 54 years. He was an adherent of First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton, and a former member of the Orange Lodge, Eureka. He was a retired employee of the Department of Transportation, Hawker Siddeley Ltd. and the Allan Shaft, Acadia Coal Co. He was an avid outdoorsman, master woodsman, hunter, fisherman and farmer. Surviving are his wife, the former Olive C. Foote; sons, Wally, Malcolm, Sidney, Bradley, Craig, Plymouth; Neil, Springville; daughter, Darlene (Mrs. Kevin Bonvie), Churchville; eight grandchildren; sisters, Mary (Mrs. Howard Pace), Trenton; Margaret (Mrs. Lawrence Campbell), MacLellans Brook; Edith Ball, Ottawa; Kaye (Mrs. Charles Bigney), Glen Ewen, Sask.; Hazel Clarke, Indiana; brothers, Harold, Fred, John, Ontario; George, Garden of Eden; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Carol. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, funeral 2 p.m. Thursday, all in H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow, Rev. Charles MacPherson officiating. Burial in Kenzieville Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations to First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton, QEII Health Sciences Centre burn unit or any charity.
