Deputy Mayor William Tanner dies TANNER, William Scott - 72, 30 Tenth St., Trenton, died November 14, 1992, at home. Born in Trenton, he was a son of the late William and Susie (Fraser) Tanner. He was a retired security guard with Hawker Siddeley. He was a member of First United Church, Trenton. At the time of his death, he was deputy mayor of Trenton and was on town council for the past 25 years. He was a veteran of the Second World War. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 29; Royal Canadian Air Force Association and Overseas War Veterans Association. He is survived by two daughters, Susan (Mrs. Donald Chisholm), Hopewell, Pictou County; Linda, Dartmouth; son, William (Billy), South Carolina; two sisters, Myra Marsh, Trenton; Agnes Jenkins, MacLellans Brook, Pictou County; four grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Olga Thompson; brother, Fraser; three sisters, Gladys, Georgie, Clara. The body is in R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday in First United Church, Trenton, Rev. Stephen Fram officiating. Burial will be in Abercrombie Cemetery. Donations may be made to Aberdeen Hospital Foundation or Adult Residential Centre, Riverton.
