MacKAY, Rev. J. Donald
MacKAY, Rev. J. Donald - 77, 28 Second St., New Glasgow, died March 17, 1993, in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Stellarton, he was a son of the late John and Margaret (Taylor) MacKay. He wad a retired Presbyterian minister. He wad ordained by the Presbyterian Church of Canada, May 8, 1947, at First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton. In 1940, he received his BA from Acadia University and graduated from Presbyterian College of McGill University, Montreal. He had pastoral charges in Hopewell, Eureka, Summerside, P.E.I. and Westminster Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow. Upon retirement in 1982, he was honored as minister emeritus of First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton. He was supply minister of Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn and Sutherland River Presbyterian Church. He was highy respected in his pastoral duties. He was a member of Pictou Presbytery; Pictou County Research and Devolopment (PICORD); Curren Lodge of Hopewell and director of Clan MacKay Society. He is survived by his wife, the former Jean Dunbar; sister, Eileen Ervin, New Glasgow; a nephew; three grandnieces; a grandnephew. The body is in R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today and Friday. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church, Rev. Charles MacPherson officiating. Burial will be in Riverton Cemetery.
