Funeral Yesterday

Two hearses, side by side, was the unusual sight on the route from North Brunswick Street to Camp Hill Cemetery yesterday - Inside reposed the caskets containing mother and daughter, on both of which were many floral tributes. Just 10 days previously both were in good health, but pneumonia seized one and then the other - the mother nursing the daughter and becoming affected by the disease. The mother was 56, and the daughter 19. Mrs. Rose was a daughter of the late Nicholas Honey, and her husband Alex (John) Rose, shipwright. One funeral is a sad sight enough - but two together seems to impress everybody with many fold force. It was a cold, dark, afternoon, and the hour late; but the funeral cortage included several hundred persons, besides carriages. Rev. Mr. McPherson - in whose church both sat a fortnight previously side by side - officiated at the house and the grave, and side by side mother and daughter were lowered into the tomb.
