McCURDY, Eliza [Bayne]
MRS. JAMES MCCURDY The funeral of the late Mrs. James MacCurdy was held on Wednesday morning from First Presbyterian Church, the service being conducted by Rev., Dr., Baird. Mrs. MacCurdy will be remembered by the older residents of Pictou as Miss Eliza Bayne, the eldest daughter of the late Rev. James A. Bayne, for twenty-five years of more pastor of Prince Street Church in Pictou Mrs. MacCurdy's death occurred in Toronto and her remains were brought to Pictou by her brother James Bayne, of Moncton, N.B., who has been for fifty-two year with the mechanical department of the C.N.R., and who was accomplanied by his son Blair, who is in the C.N.R. Electrical department. Besides her brother, Mrs. MacCurdy is survived by two sisters; Margaret, in Toronto, unmarried, and Lily, in Toronto, the widow of the late Rev. Dr. Neill, who was at one time moderator of the Presbyterian General Assembly. Other members of the family, who have passed away, were Dr. Herbert Bayne, the eldest son, who was the first principal of Pictou Academy under the new free school act, who was a professor in the Royal Military College at Kingston at the time of his death, and wose wife was the eldest daughter of the late Howord Primrose of Pictou: Rev. Ernest Bayne, who died in Mabou; George Arthur, who was connected for many years with the Hudson Bay Company and whose death occurred in Winnipeg; Mary, the wife of Rev. Dr. McTavish of Toronto, who survives her; and Sarah, who died some years ago.
