WEIR, Walter Alexander Fraser
WEIR, Walter Alexander Fraser - 79, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of 221 Abercrombie Rd., new Glasgow, died Wednesday in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Walter and Mary (Cameron) Weir. He lived in New Glasgow for the past 11 years, moving there from Toronto, where he had worked as a security guard at the Federal Building until retiring. He was a veteran of the Second World War and an instructor during the Korean conflict. He was a Royal Canadian Legion member and an avid ball player during his earlier years. He is survived by his wife, the former Wilda Geddes; three sons, Walter, Jr., Summerside, P.E.I.; Donald, New Glasgow; Andrew, Eastern Passage; two daughters, Jan (Mrs. Eddy MacDonald), MacLellan's Brook; Mildred (Mrs. Donald MacKearney), Oshawa, Ont.; five sisters, Margaret Atkinson, Ontario; Florence Powell, Dartmouth; Helen Keith, Min Johnson, Marjorie Weir, all of New Glasgow; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by four sisters, Mary, Sadie Condran, Jessie Stalmans, Mabel Freeman. The body had been cremated. Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday in H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Private burial will be in Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Glen Haven Manor.
