CREIGHTON (Ross), Gladys Helene
CREIGHTON (Ross), Gladys Helene - 84, The Maritime Old Fellows Home, formelry of Faulkland St., Pictou, passed away March 13, 1999 in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Oxford, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Ida (Fraser) Ross. A graduate of the Provincial Norman College, she taught at several Pictou County schools, retiring as principal of Sir William Dawson Elementary School, Pictou. She was one of the first female school principals in Nova Scotia. Active in her community, she was a member of Pictou United Church, the United Chruch Women, and the Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. An enthusiastic genealogist, she was also a charter member of the Pictou County Genealogical and Heritage Society. Surviving are sister, Gwendolyn (Mrs. Ralph O'Brien), Bedford; brother, Dr. Robert Ross, Wolfville. She was predeceased by her husband, James; sister, Gladys, Jeanette; brothers, Clair, Victor, Donald. Arrangements have been entrusted to McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 16, 1999 in Pictou United Chruch, with Rev. Debbie Aitken officiating. Burial will be in Seaview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pictou United Church or a charity of your choice.
