CUMMINGS, George Everett - 62, 274 Foord St., Stellarton, died February 21, 1999, in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of Bertha (Clarke) Smith, Stellarton, and the late Roy Cummings. He was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces for several years and later was a member of Trenton and New Glasgow Regional Police Force and Pictou County Sheriff Department. He was also a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 28, Stellarton. Surviving are his wife, the former Betty Baker; daughters, Cathy (Mrs. Kurt Trainor), Westville; Joanne (Mrs. Allan Crawford), Hopewell; sons, Ernie, Bridgewater; John, Truro; four grandchildren; brothers, John Merrey, Springhill; Bob Cummings, New Glasgow; Harvey Smith, Trafalgar; Barry Smith, Eureka. He was predeceased by his stepfather, Harvey Smith. His remains have been donated for medical research. There will be no visitation. Legion service 6:30 p.m. Friday, memorial service 2 p.m. Saturday, both in Eagles Funeral Home, Westville, Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. No flowers by request. Donations to First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow, or any charity.
