LOHNES, Mary Jeannette MacKenzie
LOHNES, Mary Jeannette MacKenzie - 83, 403 Prince St., Truro, passed away on January 5, 1999, at home. Born in Stellarton, she was the only daughter of the late George William Ross and Margaret Florence (MacKenzie) Ross. She resided in Halifax for 52 years with her husband and family, moving to Truro in 1992.
She was a graduate of the Nova Scotia Art College and the Laurence School of Art, Milford, Mass. She was a member of Bethany United Church, Halifax; an adherent of First United Church; a lifelong member of Gilchrist Unit, UCW, at Bethany; a member of Unit N., UCW First United Church; a member of the Painters Palette, Halifax; a lifelong member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the IWK Hospital; a former member of Ashburn Golf Club, and a member of Truro Golf Club.
Jeannette leaves us with a legacy of memories through her generous and genuine spirit and her fine art work. Surviving are daughters, M. Judith and husband James Richards, Truro; Shirley and husband Ken Nason, Toronto; Barbara Lohnes, Vernon, B.C.; son, Donald R. Lohnes and wife Pam, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Billie and Mary Richards, Jamie, Katherine and Matthew Nason, Sarah Jane Lohnes; nephew, George William Ross, Belmont, Mass. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold D. Lohnes and brother, Donald R. Ross.
No visitation by request. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. in First United Church, Truro, Rev. William MacLeod officiating. Reception to follow in the church parlour. Donations in her memory may be made to Colchester Regional Hospital Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice. Take a moment in Jeannette's memory.
