NICKERSON, Shirley M. [Pelly]
NICKERSON, Shirley M. - 82, Marshy Hope, died July 5, 1998, at home. Born in Abercrombie, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Alice (Kendall) Pelly. During the Second World War, she worked at the Trenton Gun Shop. For over 50 years, she was a foster parent for a number of children and she was an avid gardener and outdoors woman. Surviving are sons, Lawrence (Judy), Sylvester, Pictou Co.; Tracy (companion Linda Thomlinson), Garry (Marie), Robert Harrop, all of Marshy Hope; Steve (Mary) Larkham, Piedmont; daughters, Alice (Earl) Einarson, Ethel (Gerard) Pettipas, Marshy Hope; Anne (Tex) Gay, Eureka; Hilda George, New Waterford; sisters, Muriel Smith, New York; Jessie Jenkins, Linacy; Irene Harper, Ontario; 25 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by son, Ronald; sister, Florence Nickerson, Edith Myers. Funeral was held July 8 in MacIsaac Funeral Home, Antigonish, Rev. Mark Kingsbury officiated. Burial was in Glenbard Cemetery, James River. Memorial donations to the Red Cross Society or a charity of choice.
