MacDOUGALL, Thomas Francis
MacDOUGALL, Thomas Francis - 85, Northumberland Veterans Unit, Pictou, formerly of Arch Street, New Glasgow, passed away March 3,1999 in the Veterans Unit. Born in Lochaber, Antigonish County, he was a son of the late Duncan and Louise (Malloy) MacDougall. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton. Prior to the Second World War, he had been employed with MacGregor Bedding Factory. During the Second World War, he enlisted with the Royal Canadian Artillery, North Sydney in1940. After the war, he worked for the department of highways and retried from Hawker Siddeley, punch and shears department, Trenton. He was an honorary member of United Steelworkers of America. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed boxing and softball. The Lochaber, Lochiel and Garden of Eden Lakes were special places to him, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews. Surviving are sisters, Bessie Hale, Anne (Mrs. Charlie Chisholm), New Glasgow; brothers, Douglas, Hamilton; Jerry, Welland, Ont.; numerous nieces and nephews; many grandnieces and grandnephews; several great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. He was predeceased by sister, Mazie; brothers, Joe, Jim, Danny, John Michael, two in infancy. Arrangements have been entrusted to P&K MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 6, 1999 in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Rev. Sydney Mifflen officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Northumberland Veterans Unit Social Fund.
