Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Harold and Lovenia (Day) Jewell. He was a retired cement finisher. He was a member of Second United Baptist Church. Surviving are daughter, Annie Mae (Mrs. Harold Borden), Exeter, Ont.; sons, Raymond, Clarence (Bud), New Glasgow; stepdaughter, Catherine (Mrs. Alvin Henderson), Toronto; stepson, Joe McIntosh, Stellarton; sister, Agatha Mills, Priestville; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Lodia Naomi Jackson; son, Gary, one in infancy; brothers, George, Lloyd, John; sisters, Annie, Hilda, Lenora. Cremation has taken place. No visitation. Memorial service 2 p.m. Friday in Second United Baptist Church, Rev. Donald Thomas officiating. Burial in Brookside Cemetery. Donations to Canadian Cancer Society or Second United Baptist Church. Arrangements entrusted to R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
