MacKAY, Gladys Mae - 92, 240 Albert St., New Glasgow, died September 9, 1997, in Abderdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born at Lake Egmont, Halifax Co., she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Florence (Atkinson) Murphy. She was a former school teacher and missionary in Japan. She taught school in Dean, Halifax Co. for a number of years. She was a member of the Women's Missionary Society and the Presbyerian church. Surviving are her husband, Rev. Malcolm R.; brother Ralph, Milford Station, sisters, Florence Langille, Edna Baker, Frances Kellough, Middle Musquodoboit; Mable Spares, Windsor Blanche Bernett, Port Alberni, B.C. She was predeceased by sisters, Reta Skinner, Edith Spares; infant brothers, Roy, John. Burial was held September 12 in Lorne Street Cemetery, New Glasgow. Arrangements entrusted to H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
