Łęczna (Leczna)
Leczna is a small town about 25km east of the city of Lublin. It is a town
in two parts, the old part and the new part built in the 1970's to house
workers for the newly opened coal mines in the area. As with many small
towns in rural Poland, it is in want of a lot of repairs, especially to
the older part. A lot was promised to Leczna during the false prosperity
of the 1970's when it was to become the headquarters of the newly established
Lublin coal industry. A whole new district of blocks of flats were created
to house the coal miners and their families, many coming from the Slask
region (southwest Poland), but beynd the establishing the Bogdanka mine
nothing much came of it.

The parish
priests house.
The water
pump in front of the priests house. As with so much in Poland, decay is
the key. When the pump stopped functioning, they rigged up a roller.
The fire
station tower. Why do fire stations have tall towers? Well, one of the
key reasons was that they used to use natural rubber hoses, and it is vital
that these are hung up to dry out thoroughly after use otherwise the rubber
perishes.
The classical
style register office.
The second
square.
Probably
pre-war. this is nestled in a valley by the rive swinka (little pig).
Concrete
dinosaur, one of many.
A kapliczka.
