The Gmina of Abramow
Abramow gmina is a typical agricultural gmina, with a population of 4750. It covers an area of 84.5 sq.km, with some 85% of its land being used for arable purposes, 76% being plough land and 21% meadows. About a 1/3 of the 1600 farms specialise in raising pigs. The southern edge of the gmina is defined by the headwaters of the Bialka river and is located on the Lubartow plain. The southern part of the gmina is part of the Kozi Bor Protected Landscape Area, and some of the most common crops here are the herbs Angelica, Lovage, Scabwort and Valerian. Originally, this gmina was part of the Wielkie estate, named after King Kazimierz Wielkie (Casimir the Great), who had an estate here with 18 settlements. Unfortunately, the Gmina office in Abramow village burnt down in 1922 and all records were lost. The Gmina lists in its investments offers, the chances for companies to build food processing plants and clothes factories as there are 'a considerable number of highly qualified women' (duzo wykwalifikowanych kobiet).
