4L5. Łaziska (Laziska)

The Gmina of Laziska
The gmina has a population of 5100 and covers an area of 101 sq.km. The gmina is located on the Lublin Upland, which includes the Chodel Valley and the Urzedow Hills. The northern part is flat, wet and forested, whilst the southern part consists of low, rolling hills. In the past there was a crossing of the Wisla river between Solec and Kamien, which was important for trade in the region.

The Polish name for the Vistula River is the Wisła (Wisla). The Polish name is used here.

Braciejowice
A village on a country road in an area devoted solely to orchards. The land is flat. There is a gully on the western side of the village, parallel to the road.
Chałupki (Chalupki)
Not sure whether this is in this province, as it is a hamlet on the southern end of an island in the middle of the Wisla river.
Ćwiętaka (Cwietaka)
A hamlet on a country lane. The land is slightly undulating and a mixture of orchards and arable land.
D±brówka (Dabrowka)
A small village set amongst orchards, with one small area of arable land. The land is flat, but to the south there is an earth embankment to protect the land from flooding of the river Wiselka.
Dratów (Dratow)
A few houses and farmsteads at the western edge of a large, flat open area used mainly for arable purposes.

Gibiele
A few buildings and farmsteads in a small area of flat, open arable land. To the south is part of a forest, on the western side of the settlement there is an earth embankment to protect against flooding of the Wiselka river.
Głodno (Glodno)
A small village, with some outlying farmsteads, set amongst orchards. To the north there is an area of arable fields. The land is flat.
Grabowiec
A small village in an area devoted to orchards, with a few arable fields. The land is flat. The Martwica river flows north through the village, and a little to the east is a long thin lake.
Hetmanówka (Hetmanowka)
A hamlet on a lane in an area of rising, but relatively flat ground. The surrounding land is a mixture of arable fields and orchards.
Janiszów (Janiszow)
A village on a country lane, on the eastern edge of an arm of a forest. The land is flat and a mixture of arable fields and meadows.
Janiszów Kol. (Janiszow Kol.)
A small hamlet with quite a few farmsteads on minor highway 747. The land rises to the south, is slightly undulating and generally arable. To the north is a forest, and there is an orchard at the western end of the hamlet.
Jarętowice (Jaretowice)
A group of farmsteads, each in their own orchard. To the west is an earth embankment, and beyond that the river Wisla. The land is flat.
Kaliszańska (Kaliszanska)
A village on a straight lane, the western end merging with Kopanina. The land is relatively flat and devoted solely to orchards.
Kamień (Kamien)
A village at the junction of minor highway 825 with the 747. The land is flat, and there are orchards surrounding the village. To the east is an area of meadows with a lake. Beyond the meadows is the river Wisla.

A small village on a straight lane. Not sure whether this village is actually in gmina Opole Lubelskie. The land is slightly undulating and a mixture of orchards and arable fields.

A hamlet on a straight country lane. The land is slightly undulating and a mixture of orchards and arable fields.

A few farmsteads and houses on a lane beside a stream. The land is flat and arable, but immediately to the east is a forest.

A few farmsteads along a lane in an area of slightly undulating, open arable land. To the southeast is a small wood, whilst to the southwest there are some orchards.
Koło Kol. (Kolo Kol.)
Some houses and farmsteads on a straight lane. The northern part sits in orchards, and the southern among arable fields. The land is flat. To the east and west there are long, thin lakes.
Kopanina Kamieńska (Kopanina Kamienska)
A small village on a straight lane. The land is relatively flat and a mixture of arable fields and forest. There is a small pond at the southern end of the village.

A village at the western end of a straight country lane, abutting with Kaliszanka at the eastern end. The land is relatively high and solely orchards.
Kosiorów (Kosiorow)
A small village on a straight lane in an area mainly of orchards, but with some small arable fields. The land is slightly undulating.
Las Dębowy (Las Debowy)
A village in the middle of an area devoted solely to orchards. To the west is an earth embankment, beyond that a stretch of meadow, and then the Wisla river. The land is flat.

A ribbon development village on a lane in an open area surrounded by a forest in each direction except the south. The land is flat and a mixture of arable fields and meadows.
Łaziska ¦rednie (Laziska Srednie)
A hamlet with several outlying farmsteads on the south side of minor highway 747. The land is slightly undulating, open and arable. There is a forest on the other side of the highway and a wood to the east.

Some farmsteads strung out along a straight lane in an area of slightly undulating, open arable land. To the southwest there are some orchards.
Majorat
A scattering of farmsteads, each set in its own orchard. To the west is an earth embankment, and beyond that the river Wisla.
Młyny (Mlyny)
A small group of houses on the southwestern bank  of the Chodelka river. There is a bridge over the river here, which leads to Wies, on the other bank. The river forms the gmina boundary. The land is meadows, is flat and has several streams draining it. The name of the settlement, and its location, indicates that there was/is a mill here.
Nieciecz
Some farmsteads amongst orchards. To the west is a long thin lake. The land is flat.
NiedĽwiada (Niedzwiada)
A village at a junction of a short lane with a country road. The land is flat and a mixture of arable fields, woods, meadows and wetlands. There is a bridge at the southern end of the village.
NiedĽwiada Duża (Niedzwiada Duze)
A small village at the junction of a lane with a country road. The land is flat, open and arable. Beside the country road, on the western side, is a small wetland wood.
NiedĽwiada Mała (Niedzwiada Mala)
A hamlet at the junction of some small lanes. The land is flat, to the northwest there are orchards, to the south east there is a forest, and in the other directions there are arable fields. There are several streams in the vicinity.
Piotrawin Kol.
A scattering of farmsteads over an area of very slightly undulating land, mainly arable fields but with some orchards in the northeast corner of the settlement area. At the eastern edge of the settlement area is a forest.
Piotrawin
A village on the east bank of the river Wisla, on minor highway 825. The land to the east rises slowly and is open arable fields. To the south there are some orchards. There is a 14th century brick Gothic parish church here.

Podwale

Wrzelów (Wrzelow)
A village in an area of flat land, with arable fields, small woods and a few orchards. A stream winds round the western edge of the village, and there are 3 bridges over it. To the east the land is open and has several streams draining it.
