VISIT REPORT: (Harry Michel) "Yes, we made it to Tyszowce. We
had no luck in arranging for the trip ahead of arriving in Poland. When
we got to Warsaw, my wife talked to our tour director and he arranged for
a guide and car to take us there for the day. We left at 8am and it took
about 4 1/2 hours to get there. We stopped in Zamosz in the square for
lunch. When we got to Tyszowce, we met an older gentleman who said he lad
lived there many years and was the town historian. He took us to the 2
cemetaries where her family was buried - no headstones though - but there
was a dedication stone in the front from a Mr. Abraham Borg of the USA
in memory of the Borg family in Tyszowce. We located this Mr. Borg in New
York City and my wife talked to him last night on the phone. He doesn't
think his family was related to my wife's mothers family as he said there
were 3 Borg families in the town. He is coming to Florida later this year
and my wife will meet with him and she is looking forward to that meeting.
We
could not locate a shoe factory in the town which my wife's mother had
told her about. We stayed about 2-3 hours looking around and my wife was
happy she went even though she could find no actual remains of her family
at cemetary or houses they had lived in long ago. In fact one of the cemetaries
has a school children's playground built on top of it now."
