Looking for information on the parents of EUSTAQUIO PADIN....Tomas Padin Lopez and Ignacia Tirado Rivera. Eustaquio was born October 13, 1889 in Hatillo, PR. He married FORTUNATA CRUZ. They had 11 children Dionisio, Gregoria, Estanislao, Demetrio, Esperanza, Ramiro, Fermina, Consuelo, Hector, Isabel and Nestor.

Am researching my family history and am searching for info on my mothers side of the family. My mother Maria Morales died in 1944 at the age of 33 when I was 3 1/2 years of age. My sibllings and I would like very much to learn about her family and maybe find some distant cousins. Her father was Jose Morales and her mother Maria Diaz. I am told they were from Mayaguez but have no further information.
Please, please, if anyone is familiar with this family I would be so grateful for any information.

I have a cousin who's name at birth was Conchita Colon. Her parents Juan Colon from Lares? and Maria Ramirez from Adjuntas who were married in the late 1920's. This was the era of "Great Depression" and they were very poor and feared they could not take care of Conchita, so they gave her to a family in Ponce. This family was supposed to have owned a large store there and their name was the Farinacci's. After a few years they moved away from Ponce to the mainland and we have not heard from nor do we know her whereabouts. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for any information and/or links to any of the following, all who either were from the Ponce, Puerto Rico area or at least lived there for a significant part of their lives:
Juan Alejo RIVERA RODRIGUEZ (abt. 1797 - aft. 1873), believed to have come from Juana Diaz to Adjuntas where he married Maria Fermina TORRES GONZALEZ in 1818. He was Adjuntas' "Alcalde Constitutional" around the mid-1830's when he re-married Eusebia TORRES MALDONADO after being widowed. Known to have lived in Ponce during early 1870s. His parents, from Juana Diaz also?, are believed to be Juan RIVERA (?-?) and Francisca GONZALEZ (?-?)
Gregorio RIVERA married to Anastasia RIVERA. Both known to have lived in Ponce during the late 1870's. Perhaps came from "Barros" actual location unknowm. Perhaps a barrio, or a former name for a pueblo (Morovis & Orocovis come to mind). Any ideas would be appreciated! Had two known children: Margarita Rivera (1873-1941) and Nepomuceno Rivera (1878-1923). Family oral history says they may have been from "las islas canarias," but this is unconfirmed as the above is all we have on them!! More info available on some of their descendants.
Francisco Lope MALDONADO (1803?-aft. 1868) married Juana Bautista de Santiago (1806?-aft. 1868), both believed to be from Utuado. Known to have been in Adjuntas about 1828, and in Ponce as early as 1840. Looking for link to the Utuado MALDONADOs. Progenitor of many of the Ponce MALDONADOs, though not all. More info available on the Ponce MALDONADOs.
Francisco ALBERTO married Juana HERNANDEZ, known to have lived in Ponce about 1827. Had at least one son Cecilio ALBERTO HERNANDEZ (1821?-1901) who is the progenitor of just about all the "ALBERTs," a corruption of ALBERTO, in the Ponce area. Many also have had a daughter named Ramona ALBERTO HERNANDEZ (1825?-??) who married a Casimiro RUIZ ORTIZ. Have lots of info on the ALBERTs, now looking for the ALBERTO ancestors.
Gervasio VEGA (1795?-aft.1846) married Nicolasa MADERA (1810?-aft.1868), lived and had children in the Ponce- Penuelas area. Both believed to be from Penuelas and may be related to the Yauco VEGAs and MADERAs. Nicolasa's father may have been a Marcos MADERA. More info available on Gervasio's descendants.
Maria de la Paz ALMODOVAR TORRES (1835?-1915) married Juan Jose VEGA MADERA (1825?-bef. 1901), son of the above couple, and lived in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Her father may have been a Jose ALMODOVAR COLON (1795?-aft.1860). More info available on their off-springs.
Would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone with any leads, links, ideas, or suggestions for further research on the above. Extremely interested in hearing from any "lost" primos y primas.

I am looking for any information on Segunda Maldonado from Orocovis,
PR. She was born
10/11/1885 and died November 1974. I believe she is my great aunt
and that any information on her could lead me to more information on my
paternal grandfather. I am also looking for anyone who would have
any information on Maria Torres who was born circa 1920 and died in 1973.
I believe that she is my paternal grandmother. The SSDI says that her social
security number was issued in the Virgin Islands which corresponds with
what my father has told me in regards to my grandmother.

My maternal great grandparents were Vicente Gonzalez & Juana Maldonado from Arecibo. Vicente and Juana had three children; Elvira, Gregorio & Vicente b. in Utuado, d.Feb. 2, 1976 in Arecibo. Vicente Gonzalez y Maldonado was my maternal grandfather. My second set of maternal great grandparents were Gregorio Rivera & Maria DeLaCruz y Centeno. Gregorio and Maria had 10 children; Luis, Evangelina, Gregorio, Emilio, Marciana, Rosa, Ramon, Dolores, Pedro, Emilia b. Aug. 9, 1902 in Utuado, d.Oct. 30, 1972 in NY. Emilia Rivera DeLaCruz was my maternal grandmother.
My maternal grandparents, Vicente and Emilia, had 6 children; Heriberto d. age 7, Ismael d. 3 months, Ismael b. March 30, 1929 in Arecibo, d. June 1975 in New York, Vicente b. Jan. 3, 1932 in Arecibo, Luis Felipe b. Aug. 21, 1938 in Arecibo, and Haydee b. Oct. 12, 1923 in Arecibo. Haydee Gonzalez y Rivera is my mother. My grandfather, Vicente Gonzalez y Maldonado had children by two other women. One of the women was Cecilia with whom he had two children, Lydia and Apree. The other women was Severa Rivera, whom he married and had three children with; Heriberto, Gladis and Enrique.
My paternal grandparents were Justiniano Bonilla (b. July 4, 1881?, d. Oct 1963?) and Amilia Almedina (b. Aug 20, 1888?, d. Aug 1982?). Justiniano and Amilia had 10 children; Catalino d. in NY, Ventura b. July 14, 1910 in Cayey, d. March 2, 1995 in Cayey, Francisca b.Oct. 15, 1913 in Cayey, d. Sept. 1997 in Cayey, Angelina d. in Cayey, Matilde, Jose d. in Cayey, Juanita, Concepcion d. in NY, Lino d. May 5, 1998 in Cayey, and Felipe b. May 11, 1920 in Aibonito. Felipe Bonilla y Almedina is my father. All the children with the exception of Felipe were born in Cayey.
My parents Felipe Bonilla y Almedina and Haydee Gonzalez y Rivera had 3 children; Nayda Luz (b. 1949 in Arecibo), Felipe (b. 1952 in New York) and myself, Edgar Anthony (b. 1961 in New York). If you have any information that can help me or need some more from me, please feel free to email me.

Jayuya, Puerto Rico y los recibí. Recibí la siguiente información:
Mi abuela Angela Oliveras murió en Jayuya, la fecha que aparece
en el documento es 11 de Agosto de 1940-murió a los 55 anos, así
que calcule nació en el 1885. Sus padres eran Marcelina Ayala y
José Oliveras. Mi abuelo murió el 6 de Agosto de 1936 a la
edad de 70 anos y calcule que nació en el 1866. Sus padres eran
Manuel Martínez y Elena Soto. El Registro Demográfico de
Jayuya me indico que ellos no tenían el acta de nacimiento de Angela
y Manuel, me dijeron que llamara la iglesia, lo cual hice, pero la iglesia
no pudo localizar los documentos, según ellos hubo un fuego que
quizás haya destruido documentos como estos, así que estoy
en limbo. Que

Bueno, sin dar esperanzas falsos: Sugiero
que veas los siguientes sitios dedicados a la familia OQUENDO PABON en
el www.geocities.com/Heartland/Prairie/7214 o geocities.../7125 (el primero
en español y el segundo en inglés). Estos pertenecen a mi
hermana, la Dra.Ana Cristina y al Padre José Antonio Oquendo Pabón
(un servidor). La Dra. tiene un enlace geocities..../7215/datespr.html
que da información sobre la fundación de los pueblos. Debes
averiguar en pueblos cercanos (Ciales, Utuado, Puerto Rico) especialmente
si tu familia vivía en colindancia con otros pueblos pues es sabido
que la colindancia por diversas razones cambió varias veces. En
el enlace opcional que pide este programa puse el enlace a nuestro árbol
materno. Deja que monte pues tiene mésica y gráficas, luego
busca la genealogía de nuestra abuela materna pues se llama Ana
OLIVERAS CLAS, cuyos padres son Angel OLIVERAS ALVADALEJO y Dolores
CLAS TORRES. Nuestro bis-abuelo tuvo una
hermana llamada Angela, ella no aparece en nuestro árbol pues solo
puse los antepasados directos, PERO, el hijo de esta Angela, José
Monserrate, fue bautizado en Jayuya en 1865 como hijo natural, es decir,
lleva el apellido de madre y no de padre. Como los nombres son semejantes,
¿podría ser la misma familia? ¿Podría ser José
Monserrate el papá de su abuela? Envíanos más información,
si puede, pues seguramente estaré investigando esto en mi proxima
visita a la isla.

Los apellidos ESPIET y MILLET se encuentran en Camuy. Mi abuelo, Miguel Donate Espiet, su mama, Amalia Espiet Gerena y su abuelo paterno, Emilio Espiet Millet. Emilio era frances. Su mama Juana Marie Millet. Esta informacion fue investigada por un servidor en la Parroquia San Jose de Camuy. Los dos apellidos, tanto Espiet como Millet, no son muy comunes y han ido desapareciendo. Todavia quedan algunos en Camuy.

En respuesta a la genealogía de los ESPIET puedo contribuir los datos siguientes:
Mi abuelo, Venancio Espiet Rodríguez,
es el químico azucarero que menciona Maritza en su mensaje.
Venancio es hijo de José Espiet Gerena (hermano de Amalia) y nieto
de Emilio Espiet Millet. Venancio nació en Camuy y se trasladó
a la central azucarera Victoria en Carolina. Aunque siguió
trabajando en muchas otras centrales acabó viviendo en Río
Piedras (de donde soy yo). Los hijos de Venancio Son José,
Juan y José Juan Espiet González y todos viven en el årea
metropolitana con la excepción de José quien reside en la
Florida. Entre los tres tuvieron cuatro varones: José, Alberto,
Edgardo y JPierre quienes a su vez han tenido a Ricardo, Christian, Juan
Alberto. Los varones son pocos pero la familia continua aunque no sea en
Camuy. Uno de los hijos de mi tatarabuelo Emilio (cuyo padre es la primera
generación que llega a Puerto Rico y que se llamaba Francois; le
decían Pancho) dice mi abuelo que se fue a Venezuela. Puede que
haya algo de cierto en esto puesto que he visto que Starbuck vende café
Espiet. (de Costa Rica, pero dice mi mamá que esta puede ser la
familia que se fué de Venezuela y pasó a Costa Rica). Como
cuestion histórica hay que mencionar que el patriarca François
Espiet llegó de Francia con 10 hijos, entre ellos dos mujeres y
que se ubico en Camuy y se dedicó a la cosecha del café.
Una de las mujeres se llamaba Nina y mi abuelo cuenta que ella se casó
con uno de los varones de la familia Roses quienes tenían una licorería
en Arecibo (antigua licorería semejante a la de Serrallés
en su época). Mi abuelo no hablaba de
nadie más de la familia excepto
que siempre mencionaba que su abuelo le hablaba en francés.
Eventualmente la suerte de mi abuelo y la de su padre cambió al
morir éste a la temprana edad de 38 años y de alguna manera
la participación en el negocio café acabó. Lo que
resta de esta época es el barrio de Camuy que lleva todavía
el nombre de todos nosotros. Nota: Para 1948, 1950 se recibieron noticias
de Francia preguntando por los herederos de Francois. Mi abuelo se alegró
de recibir carta después de tantos años pero después
resultó que la gente lo que estaba buscando era vere si se les había
dejado dinero... Habría que ver si todavía queda alguien
en Arrens.

apellidada CORREA porque al morir su amo (Francisco LÓPEZ) queda
esclava de la viuda (de apellido CORREA).

María Seferina, pero no reconoció a
sus hijos; de esta unión nació María Belén
NAVEDO (Cert Baut propio VB) que por ser también natural no tenía
derecho al apellido de su padre según la costumbre de su época.
6. Pablo RAMÍREZ PANTOJAS (Cert Baut propio VEGA BAJA 1864),
hijo de Candelario y Catalina, se unió a María Belén
NAVEDO, sin darle casamiento. De los varios hijos que tuvieron sólo
cuatro llegan a la adultez. Pablo aparentemente reconoció solamente
a un hijo, Luis, y este sólo porque iba a la primera guerra mundial
y necesitaba que su
padre lo reconociese. De esta unión nació nuestra
abuela Cristina RIVERA (VEGA BAJA, 1904) que aparentemente se abrogó
el derecho de firmar con el apellido de su abuelo, a pesar de que Francisco
RIVERA no había reconocido a su madre. Abuela Cristina fue inscrita
como NAVEDO, bautizada como RIVERA y finalmente enterrada como RAMÍREZ.

1. José OQUENDO tuvo de María del Rosario SORIANO varios hijos de los cuales Domingo OQUENDO SORIANO (Cert Matr propio COR 1826), casó con María de la Encarnación DE LOS SANTOS MORALES (Cert de Bautismo propio COROZAL). En el Cert de Matr aparecen los padres de ambos siendo ella hija del matrimonio con varios hijos de Manuel Cecilio DE LOS SANTOS y de Benedicta MORALES.
Para esa misma época, Agustín MALDONADO casó con María ARROYO, de cuya unión un hijo del matrimonio, Benito MALDONADO ARROYO, fue viudo de Agueda CRESPO FERRER, en cuyo Cert Matr VEGA ALTA 1815 aparecen sus padres Casimiro CRESPO y Juana FERRER, alegando que son de VB. Benito entró en segundas nupcias con María Josefa RIVERA MELÉNDEZ (Cert Matr VEGA ALTA 1843), hija del matrimonio de (Juan) Segundo DE RIVERA AYALA y su prima hermana Lucía MELÉNDEZ AYALA (Cert Matr propio COR ? 1821). En ese documento aparecen nombrados sus padres: Mariano DE RIVERA y Gregoria AYALA y Pedro Pablo MELÉNDEZ y Ursula AYALA, respectivamente.

Natalio OQUENDO MALDONADO (Cert Baut propio MOR 1869) casó con Juana Petrona DE LA CRUZ NATAL (Cert Baut propio NARANJITO) El Cert Matr propio (MOROVIS) sostiene que la boda se celebró en 1889, cuando él tenía veinte y ella diecinueve años. Diferentes documentos le achacan diferentes apellidos a la madre de Juana Petrona cuyo Cert no la anota y cuyo Cert Matr alega se llama Gabriela VAZQUEZ. El Cert Baut de un hijo de Juana Petrona alega se llama Gabriela Berrios, los Cert Baut de dos hijos afirma que su apellido es NATAL. El Cert Baut de un hermano de Juana Petrona contiene los nombres de sus padres, Victoriano DE LA CRUZ DEL ROSARIO y Micaela NATAL BERRIOS. Estos apellidos se aceptan hasta que se pueda comprobar que fue huérfana de madre causando que su padre entrara en segundas nupcias. Vega Baja y Toa Alta y que tuvo muchos hijos.
5. Luis OQUENDO CRUZ nació de dicha unión, pero no se sabe cuándo, a no sea que él deba identificarse con el Fidel bautizado en el 1896 en Morovis. I am currently trying to trace my mothers family history back to
Tenerife in the Canary Islands. My mother, Laura Sosa Sosa
told me that my grandmother, Celenia Sosa & my grandfather, Miguel
Sosa Andino were first cousins. My great grandparents on my
grandmothers side, Brigida Medero Andino & Julio Sosa Medero had Celenia
& 5 other siblings. My great great grandparents on my grandfather's
side, Maria de La O Andino & Fautino Sosa Medero, had Miguel &
5 other siblings. Fautino & Julio were brothers & decided
that they would marry each others children to each other to keep
the family blood pure. I'm not sure if my two great grandmothers were sisters
also, but I wouldn't be surprised. My great great grandparents were
Fernando Sosa & Margarita Medero.
Fernando Sosa migrated from Tenerife to Puerto Rico with one or
two brothers. I think their names were Patricio Sosa and maybe Pedro Sosa.
They were given land in Puerto Rico by the Queen of Spain according to
what my grandmother & my mother said.

I am researching the surname KERPS originally from Germany that traveled to Puerto Rico via Spain. The name was changed to Querpis and has been also written as CHERPIS. This surname has been found in Cabo Rojo and Hormigueros. I believe that the surname has now died out in Puerto Rico, at least as pertains to my direct ancestor. There was a younger brother named KERPS that came with my ancestor to Spain and then Puerto Rico. Do not have any information on this younger brother after arriving in Puerto Rico as part of the Spanish army. Does anyone have this name in their family tree?

I am searching for my father's side of the family. My father's name
is Jose Gil Maldonado Torres. His birthdate is Sept. 01, 1939.
He was born in Coamo, Puerto Rico. My grandfather, Simplicio Maldonado,
and my grandmother, Maria Torres, were both from barrio Bauta Abajo, Orocovis.
It is not known if either had another surname. Simplicio was born c. 1878
and died c.1962-1963. Maria's birthdate is not known but she
died
c. 1972-1978. It is believed that Maria is from the
Virgin Islands. My great-grandparents on Simplicio's side are
known to be immigrants from Spain, albeit from what region is not known.
Simplicio has a first wife and daughter, both of whom died of yellow
fever. Their names are not known. Simplicio and
Maria had all total eight children. Seven boys and
one girl. My father only remembers four of my uncles'
names. Rafael, Tito, Felix, and Hector. All with the surname
Maldonado Torres. My father tells me that he grew up near Rio
Toro Negro and remembers going to a theater called "Hollywood Theatre"
in Coamo. He and his siblings attended Benjamin Franklin school and
his teacher's name was a Ms./Mrs. Correa. If you have any information

Seeking death and/or descendant information regarding Manuel N. Gonzalez Soto (born in Camuy, son of Andres and Juana Isidora) and Juana Tudela Perez (b.c. 1855 - town unknown, daughter of Jose and Elisa). Manuel and Juana were married 22 June 1873 in Utuado.
It is not known whether Manuel and Juana had children. The Gonzalez Tudela individuals listed in the 1910 and 1920 U.S. Federal Census (in Utuado/Jayuya) are children of half-sisters of Juana's (who married brothers Justiniano and Florentino Gonzalez Hernandez).
