This Huntingdon Protestant Cemetery Inscription and Burial List a collation from four sets of records:
●  Digital photographs taken by Burt Lang in the Fall 2005.
●  Listings found on Gerry Rogers' Cemetery List circa 1978 that were not already identified in the digital photographs.*
●  Interments recorded in the Register of Deeds or Ownership (as of 2003) where the individual name was not identified in the digital photographs.**
●  Burials recorded in church registers, where the Huntingdon Protestant Cemetery was identified as the location of interment, for the period from 1901 to 1940.
These include the records for St-John's Anglican Church, St-Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Huntingdon Methodist/United Church Records,  Athelstan Presbyterian Church Records, Calvin Presbyterian Church, and Kensington Methodist/United Church. Note that information obtained from the church records and added to the other records is included in square brackets [   ].***

Explanation for the use of fields in the cemetery list:

Surname Given Names Dates Alternate Search Name Range or Source Lot Number Headstone Notes and Comments

Whenever possible, the maiden name of a woman who has married is provided..

The name as found in the record.

The date of birth and death as found in the record.

In order of usage:
(1) The primary name found on the headstone.
(2) The husband's surname when a woman has married.
(3) The owner of the lot.

Whenever known, the Range Number for the lot is provided.
(1) The headstones for the Royal Canadian Legion section of the cemetery are identified only as Range LB and LC.
(2) Records from Gerry Rogers' list are identified as RL.
(3) Records from church registers are identified as RC.

 

Whenever known, the Lot is provided. The other codes used are:
APC  - Athelstan Presbyterian Church.
CPC - Calvin Presbyterian Church (LaGuerre).
HMC - Huntingdon Methodist/United Church.
HPC - St-Andrew's Presbyterian Church
KMC - Kensington Methodist/United Church
ST-JAC - St-John's Anglican Church

When the information was obtained from a photograph, the number of the headstone as found on the lot and the side of the headstone is indicated. In the cemetery list if this field is empty, then the information was obtained from a source other than a photograph. ****

1R = First Headstone Reverse
1S1 = First Headstone Side One
1S2 = First Headstone Side Two
2F = Second Headstone Front
2R = Second Headstone Reverse
1G = Flagstone
... and so on

This includes:
(1) Additional information inscribed on the headstone.
(2) Relationships between identified between persons listed on the headstones.
(3) Additional information found in separate records.

Note: Where a note reads, similar to  "Reference 038 - 12 Mrs. Willard Caldwell", this indicates the page - plot number and owner found in the Register of Deeds of Ownship.

This cemetery list has been the collaborative effort of Burt Lang, Ed Stark, and Ken Steffenson.

* A number of individuals named in Rogers' Huntingdon Protestant Cemetery list are incorrectly identified as buried in this cemetery.
** Undoubtedly, there is duplication because in many cases it was not possible to identify the individual buried.
*** No similar listings were found in other Protestant church records for the county.
**** The numbering system for the headstones is by full lot number (eg. "17" and not '17 N1/2" or '17S1/2'.)
