Ruston Cemetery is small family burial ground, located a few
hundred yards south of Elgin Township's Third Concession Road on a farm just
west of Wattie Side Road. The cemetery is on small hill approximately half
way between the road and Oak Creek.
The Ruston Family were originally from Yorkshire, England, and members of the
local Methodist congregation. The Ruston Family arrived in Elgin in 1824. John
Ruston had been a Methodist preacher in England. William and Nicholas
Ruston originally farmed the property.
