With the breeding of heavy horses the names Samuel McGerrigle had been closely allied, for during the past 35 years he had been a leading breeder and importer, and many fine animals were placed on local farms through his efforts. At all the local and provincial shows he was an ardent competitor, his display at Ormstown last year being one, of the features of the animal exhibit. Back in 1903 Mr. McGerrigle won the prize of a set of harness given by Mr. J. H. Thomson, editor of the bulletin in a competition for the most popular farmer in the district of Beauharnois. For the past year Mr. McGerrigle's health was bad and doctors Cooper and Hall attended him in the hope of accomplishing a recovery.
